Back-to-School Connections Conferences

The Monterey Peninsula Unified School District is proud to bring back its Back-to-School Connections conferences August 30 through September 8, 2023 for elementary and middle school families. Unlike parent-teacher conferences that will occur later this fall (November), these connection meetings are an opportunity for parents, guardians, and caregivers to introduce themselves to their child's teacher. These Back-to-School Connections also serve as an opportunity to relay relevant and pertinent information to a child's teacher regarding social emotional well-being or any concerns parents, guardians, and caregivers may have behaviorally. These conferences are not academic in nature and are centered around a child's well-being and relationship building.

During the one and half week connection conference period, release time for elementary schools will be 12:50 p.m. and for middle schools will be 1:30 p.m.

“Back-to-School Connections allows us to create a space for families, parents, and guardians to share their hopes and needs for their scholars,” said Cresta McIntosh, Associate Superintendent of Educational Services. “Moreover, it is a time to prioritize building and nurturing relationships to mutually support and provide high expectations among scholars, families, and educators. Feedback received during these connections allows educators to make adjustments to best provide appropriate support for scholars.”

School sites will be reaching out directly to families to schedule Back-to-School Connections dates and times. If you have questions, please feel free to reach out to your child’s teacher or school site office.
